Welcome back!
This year promises to be a very interesting campaign, with some familiar faces and new prospects.
In August 2009, I ran for School Trustee in the By-Election. While I was edged out by a slight 2% margin, I promised that I would continue to work towards my goals for the school children in our District. I have keep that promise, and have remained active in School District 44, attending the School Trustee Meetings, the District Municipal Meetings, and participating in the selection committee for our local charities.
I am pleased to see our District move towards Personalized Learning and increase in high-achievement programs. However, my continued concern is that we ensure that all children’s educational needs are met, and that we offer effective options for all students.
I am a strong believer in providing balance to our school system. I sit on the North Vancouver’s School District Careers and Work Experience Committee as a parent representative, because I believe in the high value of these programs. If we do not find a way to keep a wide variety of options available within our District, we will fail to meet the School Board’s objective to attract more learners into our region.
